“YAC-N Demands Release of Head of “I have the Honor” Faction, Armen Ashotyan, Amid Political Persecutions”

The YAC-N is urging the Armenian authorities to release Armen Ashotyan, the head of the “I have the Honor” faction, as stated in a post on the faction’s Facebook page. Hayk Mamijanyan, a member of the HAK, expressed deep concern regarding the arrest warrant, which accuses Ashotyan of “supporting political oppositionists in Europe” and violating the conditions of pretrial release set by the European Court of Human Rights. Furthermore, Mamijanyan highlighted that the court has dismissed the defenses’ applications based on false testimonies and statements from members of the Center for Democratic Initiatives. Adding to the chorus, the European Union has also called upon the Armenian authorities to release Ashotyan, ensure a fair and impartial trial, and put an end to political persecutions, as noted by Mamijanyan.
