N.S.O.T.T. Archbishop Aram A. Vehapar Emphasizes Importance of Youth Engagement in Visit to Washington Church Community

N.S.O.T.T. Archbishop Aram A. Vehapar recently welcomed a delegation at the Holy Cross Armenian Church in Washington. The delegation, consisting of believers and representatives from the church community, met with Archbishop Vehapar to discuss matters of faith and spiritual guidance. The Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia announced this meeting. Archbishop Daniel Anushavan, in his welcoming speech, expressed gratitude for the visit and emphasized the importance of the Catholicos’ blessing and guidance. He also invited His Holiness to share a special message with the faithful of the New Srp’atak.

In his speech, His Holiness emphasized the significance of the church as a physical place for finding peace, but also as a symbol of faith and a sanctuary for believers. He reminded the audience that being a member of the church entails active participation and contribution to its spiritual and educational activities. The house of God, according to His Holiness, holds authority and should be respected by its members.

Following the church service, a meeting was held in the church hall with a group of young people and their parents. The presence of the youth was emotionally moving, and they expressed their enthusiasm for actively engaging in the Armenian community. His Holiness assured them of his unwavering support and stressed the importance of open dialogue with young people. He not only emphasized the role of guiding and educating them but also the significance of listening to their concerns and opinions.

The questions addressed to His Holiness mainly revolved around the reconstruction of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the renovation of Armenian churches worldwide, and the challenges our nation faces in preserving its identity. His Holiness patiently answered all the questions and urged the youth to take up the responsibility of being worthy bearers of the Armenian lifestyle, both within the Church and in society at large.
