“Armenia Implements Stricter Regulations on Uninsured Vehicles: Online Insurance Policy Now Mandatory for Entry”

In response to the rising number of accidents involving uninsured vehicles in Armenia, the Ministry of Transport, Communication, and Information Technologies has taken proactive measures to address the issue. Effective from January 1, 2024, all vehicles entering the country will be required to have an online insurance policy. This decision follows an agreement between the Ministry and the Insurance Bureau of Armenia. To ensure eligibility for an insurance policy, vehicles must meet specific criteria such as being registered in Armenia and not being public or community property.

Furthermore, ownership rights must be established before August 1, 2023, without any gratuitous registration. Failure to comply with the new online insurance regulations will result in a penalty of 50% of the expected deductible amount. These stricter regulations aim to protect motorists and improve road safety across the country.
