“Consumer’s right to sell below wholesale price acknowledged, but with limits, says Protecting the Consumer Rights Committee”
The consumer has the right to sell a product at a lower price than the wholesale price, and this is not an issue for us, said Tigran Markosyan, a member of the Protecting the Consumer Rights Committee, during a press conference at the Mamul supermarket on November 10. He explained that often there are products in stock with higher expenses for storage than the waiting time for sale. The main concern is that the product should be sold before the price is released. If the consumer sells at a lower price, there are no problems there. However, there is an important condition. Some sellers falsely claim that the daily discount routine allows them to sell products at a lower price for three months. This poses a risk of dumping and artificial price reduction. As a result, a check will be applied until 10 percent of the previous year’s turnover is exceeded.
This news comes from Armenia and provides valuable insights into consumer rights and pricing strategies. It is crucial for consumers to understand their rights and for sellers to adhere to fair pricing practices. This press conference sheds light on the concerns of both parties and aims to strike a balance between offering discounts and avoiding unethical practices. In the end, it is important to ensure fairness in the market and protect consumers from exploitation.
