“National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia to Tour Greece, USA, and Canada, Honoring Aram Khachaturian’s 120th Anniversary”

The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, will be performing concerts from December 12-21 in Greece, the USA, and Canada. The concerts are a tribute to the 120th anniversary of Aram Khachaturian’s birth, a renowned Armenian composer. The concerts will be held in various prestigious concert halls, starting with the Megaron in Athens on December 12, followed by the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall in New York, Tokyo Suntory Hall, and Montreal’s La Maison Symphonique. The final concert will take place at Symphony Hall in Boston on December 21.

The program for these performances will include Aram Khachaturian’s Symphony No. 3, excerpts from his ballet “Spartacus,” and Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5. These concerts will feature internationally acclaimed Armenian musicians such as cellist Sergey Babayan, pianist Sergey Khachatryan, and soprano Anush Nikoghosyan. The conductor for these concerts will be Eduard Topchyan, the artistic director and chief conductor of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia.

The concert at Symphony Hall in Boston on December 21 holds particular significance, as the proceeds from this event will go towards supporting those displaced from the Mountainous Karabakh region during the recent conflict. The concert is organized by various Armenian organizations, including the Pan Armenian Council of New England, AGBU New England District, Armenian Relief Society, Friends of Armenian Cultural Society, Tekeyan Cultural Association, and YerazArt. The concerts in Armenia are supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia.

The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia was founded in 1925 and has a rich history of working with world-famous conductors and soloists in renowned concert halls across the globe. Since 2000, the orchestra has been under the leadership of Eduard Topchyan, whose artistic direction and conducting have guided the orchestra to achieve a high level of artistic and performance quality, receiving recognition and accolades from critics and musicians alike.
