An incident of hooliganism and physical assault has been reported in the city of Goris, involving Tigran Khachatryan, who is currently under investigation for criminal prosecution. Tigran Khachatryan is the son of Suren Khachatrian, the former regional governor of Syunik. According to a report from NEWS.am, the RA Investigative Committee has informed that the RA Prosecutor’s Office has launched a general criminal investigation into the incidents that took place in the territory of the border area of the state border service of the RA Syunik regional administration, with T. Khachatryan being implicated under various articles of the Criminal Code.

Recent information reveals that on June 19, 2023, T. Khachatryan, accompanied by two friends, visited a service center in Goris at around 20:30 to inquire about car maintenance. During a phone conversation with the service center employees, T. Khachatryan made explicit sexual remarks, violating their privacy.

An altercation occurred between T. Khachatryan and the employees of the service center, resulting in T. Khachatryan physically assaulting a 46-year-old man using a lighter as a weapon, causing injuries to the victim’s body. T. Khachatryan then fled the scene and left Goris.

An intermediate court hearing took place to determine the measure of restraint for T. Khachatryan, which resulted in his detention being justified. The court was provided with evidence of his involvement in the crimes of assault and battery, as well as his attempt to evade responsibility by fleeing the scene of the crime.

Through preliminary investigations, operational activities, and intelligence gathering, T. Khachatryan was arrested in his own apartment in Yerevan on November 8, 2023. He was then interrogated and presented before a court, which granted permission for a real-life medical examination to establish the extent of the victim’s bodily injuries and gather further evidence regarding the actual commission of the crime.
