“USAID Warns of Potential Suspension of Humanitarian Programs in Ukraine Without Additional Funding Approval from Congress”

USAID has recently allocated additional humanitarian funds, but the provision of these funds still needs approval from Congress. If the additional assistance is not approved, our partner organizations in Ukraine may have to make difficult decisions, such as reducing the team of experts by 75% or completely suspending the humanitarian programs,” stated Erinn Mackey, director of USAID, in response to inquiries from Europe and Euroasia.

“Since February 2022, USAID has already provided $2 million in assistance to Ukraine,” stated Erinn Mackey.

It is important to note that Ukraine’s budget has been depleted, resulting in shortages. If the humanitarian programs are suspended, Ukraine’s government will have to seek support from international organizations, such as the International Monetary Fund, or consider obtaining loans,” he added.
