Minister Orders Changes in Education System: School-age Children Included, Educators Freed, and Certification Deadlines Extended

Changes have been made, as per the order of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, to include school-age children in general education, and to free educators from national organization and national education system certification by a specified deadline.

According to NEWS.am from CGMS, the previous deadline for the proposed changes in the locations provided to schools through licenses was until May 20-25. During this time, directors could apply to the authorized body to increase the number of places provided with licenses, based on requests. However, this deadline did not allow for changes to be made earlier when the number of registered students in the school was accurate. The deadline has been extended to allow directors to apply for an increase in the number of places provided with licenses until May 20-25 and August 20-25. This extension aims to provide the necessary locations for the admission of students to the first grade. Directors now have a clear picture of the locations that can be increased.

The question of including educators with approved certification in the area of locations defined by licenses was not previously regulated. An opportunity has been added to state that educators with approved certification can be accepted if the school has locations defined by licenses. However, this exception does not apply if the certification is not the only one in the place of residence or if there is no other educational certification at the educational level.

The registration website’s name has also changed. Registration will now be carried out through the newly created haytru.emis.am website.

Another change is related to the inclusion of educators with approved certification in the national education system. Until December 31 of the current year, students from the previous class will be included in the system, rather than the first class, as per the previous order. This change has led to complications in the provision of educational materials and the educational process. It has also raised questions regarding the transfer of students from colleges or educational institutions to the national education system.
