Controversial Book Draft Causes Unease Within Ruling Party: “Hraparak” Newspaper Reveals Political Turmoil

The draft of the book written by former Armed Forces Commander Hayk Sargsyan has stirred up controversy within the ruling Civil Contract party, according to the “Hraparak” newspaper. Sources from the party’s headquarters have revealed that if the draft is included in its original form, decision-makers within the party will be kept away from the judiciary. The project aims to offer a payment of 15 million drams in exchange for complete exemption from military service. However, the recruitment office has proposed an alternative, suggesting different payment amounts for several months of service. Nevertheless, the party believes that most individuals would still choose to take advantage of the opportunity to avoid compulsory military service by getting married first, a trend that seems to be prevalent in Armenian society.

We have been informed that the party is taking the draft seriously and plans to discuss it within the Civil Contract. After possible amendments on an ideological level, the draft will then be added to the agenda for the party’s meetings. For more details, please refer to today’s issue of the “Hraparak” newspaper.
