“16 Azerbaijanis Detained in Artsakh: Concerns Over Human Rights Violations and Torture Emerge”

According to a report by News.am on September 19-20, a total of 16 individuals from Azerbaijan, including military officials from Artsakh, civilian volunteers, and residents of border villages, have been detained. The report provides information regarding their health condition, the terms of their detention, and even includes photographs.

The representative of Armenia to the International Court of Human Rights (ICHR), Armen Sargsyan, has received this information through the assistance of the ICHR. Moreover, the International Court has requested Armenia to address Azerbaijan and has also shared this vital information with the ICHR.

However, important questions still remain unanswered. It is unclear whether the detained individuals have been subjected to torture or if their rights are being protected. Furthermore, concerns arise regarding their overall health status and whether any detailed documentation has been provided regarding these matters.

Armen Sargsyan, the representative of Armenia to the ICHR, has stated that a phase of examinations has now commenced. If the Armenian side can substantiate claims of human rights violations based on the information received about the detainees, they intend to bring the case before the International Court.
