Former Prime Minister Manukyan Clarifies Status of National Committee’s Temporary Government Plan, Receives Mixed Response from Levon Ter-Petrosyan

Former Prime Minister of Armenia, Vazgen Manukyan, clarified the information surrounding the formation of a temporary government by the National Committee. Contrary to former President Arzvik Minasyan’s announcement, the clergy and former presidents did not declare their support for the movement due to a negative response from Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

According to Manukyan, the main obstacle faced by the Committee was the inability to involve representatives from different political and civil society organizations, preventing a diverse range of opinions. Several names, including Arman Tatoyan and Vardan Oskanian, were proposed for discussion regarding the Prime Minister position, but no decision was made. Manukyan emphasized the importance of national dialogue before presenting a candidate for Prime Minister.

Additionally, certain members of the committee suggested the establishment of a political platform that would provide a comprehensive concept for resolving the current situation. This would involve creating a manifesto to declare the movement’s basis. Institutionalizing the committee’s activities was another suggestion, with a proposal to establish a new operative body through elections. This would help gain public trust and provide legitimacy to the committee’s actions.

The committee is currently working towards implementing these programs and aims to coordinate with emerging youth organizations and existing online cooperation. Manukyan believes that relying solely on flags and demonstrations will not be effective in opposing Nikol Pashinyan’s mechanized equipment. A robust and powerful machine is required to counter it. Failure to do so may result in legal suppression of any protests.
