On October 30th, at 23:00, a vehicle branded as “Mercedes” was detained by border guards in the field section of Aruj village, located in the Aragatsotn province. The guards conducted the detention in order to inspect the contents of the vehicle, which were found to consist of 20 containers of cigarettes. The 33-year-old driver of the vehicle and the 24-year-old passenger claimed that the cigarettes had been smuggled from seasonal residences in Aruj village.

Subsequently, both the driver and passenger were arrested and taken to the Customs Department of the State Revenue Committee. It was during the interrogation at the Customs Department that the driver confessed to having discovered the containers of cigarettes in the field section of Aruj village. Furthermore, he admitted to having previously moved them to his house with the assistance of his underage son.

The investigation into this incident is currently underway, and further details are expected to emerge in due course.
