Former Head of Stepanavan District Faces Legal Consequences as Court Decision Reveals Shocking Charges

A former head of the Stepanavan district in the Lori region of Armenia, S.Gh., who is currently barred from exercising official powers, has been sent on a foreign visit. This decision was made in accordance with Article 60 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, which outlines the restrictions imposed on him.

Additionally, it has been discovered that S.Gh. attempted to conceal the source of illicit assets obtained through the misuse of public funds, embezzlement, and illegal enrichment. It is alleged that he transferred the proceeds to individuals associated with him. This information was reported by NEWS.am, who obtained the details from the court’s decision on the matter.

A court hearing has been set for October 31, 2023, where S.Gh. will be questioned regarding his involvement in various offenses. These include the violation of Part 2 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which pertains to the failure to fulfill official duties and its significant consequences (resulting in a fine of 1 million AMD). He is also accused of breaching Part 1 of Article 308, involving the intentional use of his official position for personal gain and the subsequent damage caused (resulting in a fine of 11 million AMD). In addition to these charges, S.Gh. is facing accusations related to Part 2 of Point 2 of Article 190 (with a fine of 2 million AMD) and Part 1 of Article 314 (committing an official crime, with a fine of 7 million AMD).
