German Senator Franziska Giffey becomes latest target in spree of attacks on politicians

German Senator Franziska Giffey of SPD was attacked in Berlin with a heavy object, sustaining injuries. This is the fourth attack on German politicians in recent days. Another politician, Ivan Mosler of the Greens, was also targeted in Dresden. Matthias Eken, another SPD member, was attacked during the EP elections. Kay Gerling and Rolf Fleischer, both Greens members, were assaulted in Essen. Investigations are ongoing.
