“Moscow Court Rejects Appeal of Former Donetsk Rebel Leader Igor Strelkov’s Prison Sentence”

The Moscow appellate court has rejected Igor Strelkov’s appeal, upholding his four-year sentence for terrorism. Strelkov’s lawyers argue the evidence was insufficient, but the state prosecutor defends the validity of the sentence. Strelkov’s lawyers plan to appeal the decision. Strelkov is scheduled for release on July 21, 2023. He is currently held at Lefortovo pre-trial detention center in Moscow. Strelkov was convicted of involvement in the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, which he denies.
