Armenian Government Cracks Down on Smuggling: Chinese-Made Bus and “Black” Cash Register Uncovered
The Government of Armenia is cracking down on smuggling of state-owned tobacco products. Recent operations by customs officials have uncovered a Chinese-made bus used by an Armenian-Iranian group involved in illegal activities. Along with the bus, a “black” cash register containing methamphetamine pellets was also found. This discovery is linked to a larger smuggling operation involving stolen cash from China. Over 10 kg of methamphetamine, valued at over 800 million AMD, was seized. However, it appears that proper legal procedures were not followed in these operations.
