“Prime Minister Modi’s BJP-led Alliance Secures Majority in Indian Parliament’s Upper House”

The National Democratic Alliance, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP, has secured over half the seats in India’s upper house of Parliament. With 276 seats out of 543, Modi’s coalition has a strong majority. The rival coalition, I.N.D.I.A., consisting of 28 parties, has obtained 205 seats. In the previous election, the NDA won 353 seats in the upper house, allowing Modi to potentially become Prime Minister for a third term.
