“Armenian Village Takes Action to Preserve Nature and Protect Residents from Bear Encounters”

An agreement to preserve the natural beauty of Arates in Vayots Dzor was signed today. The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Values played a key role in reaching this agreement. In other news, a resident of Arates encountered a bear while hiking but managed to escape with minor injuries. The Foundation has been actively promoting biodiversity conservation in the region and has launched a program to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts caused by climate change. The brown bear is listed as “Vulnerable” in the IUCN Red List.
