“Turkey’s President Approves Amendment Granting Government Greater Power in Times of Crisis”

The President of Turkey has approved changes to the law on mobilization and military service. This allows the government to declare a state of emergency or partial mobilization in times of danger or war. Previous decisions on mobilization and defense can be reviewed. There are suggestions that this grants power to mobilize veterans previously discharged during peace times or after non-combat roles. Includes veterans from the 2016 attempted coup.
