“Family of Armenian War Victim Doubts Remains Belong to Son, Calls for Independent Examination”

The family of Torik Sarkisyan, a 19-year-old civilian who was killed during the recent 44-day war, does not believe that the remains transferred to the Armenian side belong to their son. Today, on July 3rd, in an interview with NEWS.am, Torik’s relatives expressed their doubts.

They informed us that the family wants to conduct an independent examination to verify the results of the identification process. However, the authorities have not yet allowed the relatives to carry out this examination.

“The parents do not believe that it is their child, they think that he is still alive,” the relatives said.

Earlier, on June 21, the Ombudsman’s Office of Armenia informed that Azerbaijan had transferred the remains of 2 Armenian servicemen who were killed during the war. It was mentioned that they are presumed to have been killed during the events in September 2022. The location where the remains of the two soldiers were found in the aftermath of the aggression in Artsakh in September 2022, have been clarified. Until now, the 19-year-old Torik Sarkisyan and the 33-year-old army contract soldier Shiraz Khachatryan were considered missing.

It should be noted that on September 13, 2022, from 00:05, the UAVs of Azerbaijan launched aerial attacks using heavy-duty rockets and artillery from the position of the Armenian fortifications and military bases, including residential areas, also employing ATS (Artillery & Tactical Strikes). The adversary targeted civilian infrastructures in the border areas, using cutting-edge thermal weapons.
