Head of the Armenian delegation, Hayk Mamijanyan, expressed a positive attitude during a meeting with US Senator Roger Wicker, Chairman of the Congressional Helsinki Commission. The meeting, which took place on July 3, was also attended by the US Ambassador to Armenia and the Chargé d’affaires of the United States, Kristina Kvien. Discussions centered around the cooperation between Armenia and the United States, security concerns within Armenia, as well as relations between Armenia and Turkey and Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Republic of Armenia’s role in regulating these relations was also emphasized. The importance of the Armenian delegation’s activities within the Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO, particularly in regards to human rights, strategic matters, the normalization of the judicial system, and immunity, was highlighted. Furthermore, the members of the delegation stressed their full respect for the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, while expressing concerns about the situation in border areas, such as violation of the ceasefire agreements, the presence of armed forces and military equipment within Azerbaijani territories, and the absence of security guarantees and peacekeepers. Additional topics were also raised during the meeting.
