Tragedy Strikes: House of Sahakyan Family, Relatives of Recently Murdered, Burns Down in Lori Province Village

In the village of Privolnoye in Lori province, a house belonging to a family related to the Sahakyan family, who were tragically killed two weeks ago, has been engulfed in flames. The fire, which started several days ago, continues to burn, filling the house with thick smoke. Although the family managed to escape, their cows were not as fortunate. The head of the family, Levan Sahakyan, attempted to repair the house using materials from the basement but was unsuccessful and lacks the necessary funds to renovate it.

Levan Sahakyan shared his financial struggles, stating, “I only receive a pension of 36 thousand drams, and my wife earns 40 thousand drams. This amount is barely enough to cover our household expenses, and we can’t even afford to buy medicine. I went to the bank to request a loan of 600 thousand drams to repair the house and planned to repay it gradually, but unfortunately, they refused to provide it.”

The village administration conducted reconstruction work as part of the resettlement of villagers, but the Tashir Municipality has yet to address the issue according to Levan Sahakyan. Reaching out for assistance, he revealed, “I have photographic evidence of the burned-down house. We immediately called the fire station, and firefighters arrived after some time. However, we have yet to receive any further communication from them.”

Regrettably, the Sahakyan family is not the only one affected by the fire. According to Emil Grigoryan, the head of the village administration, approximately 40 houses and barns, covering nearly 30 hectares of land, have been destroyed as a result of the fire.
