“Armenia’s President of the Council for the Protection of Competition highlights international collaboration for consumer rights improvement”

The President of the Council for the Protection of Competition of Armenia, Gegham Gevorgyan, recently attended a conference on the protection of consumers and competition policies, organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). According to NEWS.am, the President highlighted the ongoing collaborative efforts in Armenia to enhance the protection of consumers’ rights by establishing a more efficient and comprehensive system. He expressed gratitude to the European Union for their support in implementing the “Enhancing the effectiveness and inclusiveness of the cooperation, implementation, and communication of the Competitive and Consumer Protection Agreement (CEPA)” program.

Furthermore, the President underscored the importance of international cooperation with organizations such as UNCTAD, the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN), and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Council joined forces with ICPEN last year, while also working closely with OECD on consumer protection matters, aiming to develop and implement best practices for consumer protection regulations.
