“Russia tightens grip on raw material exports to bolster domestic industries”

The Russian government will be implementing new regulations to control the export of raw materials that are essential for the production of important goods. Starting from July 1, 2024 until December 31 of the same year, the export of copper concentrate and ores of black and non-ferrous metals will be limited. The Minister of Industry and Trade in Russia has announced that the quota for copper will be set at 550 thousand tons. Additionally, when exporting copper concentrate and ores, the maximum export duty will be 5%, with a minimum charge of 15 euros per ton. This decision aims to ensure a stable supply of raw materials to the domestic metallurgical industries.

The management for the period of 2021-2024 has also established temporary export duties for black and colored metals. The purpose of these duties is to regulate the increase in world prices for these specific products. By doing so, this measure allows for better control over the impact of external factors on the domestic market. Furthermore, it also aims to stabilize prices and provide support for ongoing investment projects.
