“Prime Minister of Armenia Announces Significant Changes Expected in Upcoming Local Elections”

In the upcoming local elections in Armenia, significant changes are expected. The Prime Minister of the country, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced that he will be participating in the election, as reported by NewsGeorgia.

“In the coming days, we plan to discuss the corresponding schedule for the elections (in the regions),” stated Kobakhidze.

The government anticipates that the discussions on the pre-elections will continue during the session of the parliament in July, with the final law set to be adopted in September.

The Prime Minister of Armenia has already determined the list of articles to be considered in the elections. Although he did not mention the specific number of articles to be revised, he expressed the goal of reducing the number of representatives in the regions of Armenia.

“Currently, we have around 10,000 representatives in the regions. It is important to significantly reduce their number for better adherence to European standards. To achieve this, we aim to decrease the number of regional representatives by at least one third. We believe that the proposed law on integration will greatly aid in accomplishing this objective,” he explained.
