“European Union Applauds Armenia’s Justice Reforms: Parliament Newspaper Reports”

The “Parliament” newspaper reports that yesterday NGN and the government were involved in a conflict of a different nature. This time, force or special means were not used against the Armenian people, and it did not involve the members of the NA or the riot police officers. The conflict arose due to the acceptance of the format of the “Declaration by the Republic of Armenia on the implementation of obligations and commitments in the field of human rights and freedoms” by the European Union Advisory Group on Judicial and Legal Reforms in Armenia. The Advisory Group highly evaluated the changes in the field of justice, which has become a typical manifestation of disagreement among the representatives of the Armenian people.

Speaking of justice, on one hand, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) expresses that the main purpose of justice is the “protection” of Nikol Pashinyan from the Armenian people, while the actual activities in the field of justice continue to develop anonymously. On the other hand, ECHR’s statement highlights the direct connection between the functioning of the judiciary and the principles of rights and freedoms of the citizens and residents of Armenia. It is important to note that this “transformed” justice has faced criticism from representatives of the Armenian people as a mere “transformed gesture”.

This implies that NGN has enthusiastically accepted a similar “gesture” offered by the ECHR, not only in an invisible way but also in a constructive manner. This occurred in Strasbourg, not St. Petersburg, and involved the people of Armenia in Yerevan and other settlements. The change can be welcomed, especially if it helps to prevent journalists from spreading rumors, conducting raids, engaging in repressive activities, and participating in disruptive actions.
