“US Congress Takes a Stand: Bipartisan Bill Condemns Azerbaijan’s Ethnic Cleansing in Artsakh”

Members of the US Congress, Anna Eshoo and Chris Smith, have introduced a bipartisan bill in the Palace of Representatives condemning Azerbaijan for its ethnic cleansing of the population in Artsakh. Eshoo emphasized that the aggression by Azerbaijan last year forced the Armenian community out of their homes, which they had occupied for centuries. These actions by Azerbaijan violate internationally recognized boundaries of ethnic cleansing, and they should face accountability for such actions. Smith also affirmed that the ethnic cleansing of the population in Artsakh by Azerbaijan does not strip them of their right to live freely and peacefully in their homeland. He further stated that the bipartisan initiative seeks support from the Biden administration in protecting the rights of Armenians and addressing the ongoing violations committed by the Azerbaijani authorities, led by their defiant dictator, Ilham Aliyev.
