“Tragedy Strikes: Eight Killed in Bus-Truck Collision near Nové Zámky, Slovakia”

At least eight people have tragically lost their lives in a road accident near the town of Nové Zámky in Slovakia. The accident occurred when a bus collided with a truck, resulting in five additional injuries. Local emergency services have been called to the scene to provide assistance.

“I’m afraid that the number of casualties in this tragic accident may rise,” expressed Petra Klimesova, a spokesperson for the rescue service, as reported by AFP. The accident took place on Thursday evening, around 5 pm local time. The incident involved an Arriva bus, where a passenger was driving. According to Mynovezamky, the bus was split into two parts, with one part overturning and the other part crushing several cars. The collision also caused the train’s locomotive to derail, and the driver sustained injuries. It is estimated that there were 100 to 200 people on the train; however, no further information regarding their condition has been released.

Due to the severity of the situation, the area has been declared an emergency scene. Five fire engines and three rescue helicopters have been deployed to provide assistance. The affected area has been cordoned off with barriers and illuminated signs. It is worth noting that these barriers and signs were already damaged in a previous accident and will be repaired on the same day, as reported by Noviny. Representatives from the Slovak railway have not provided any comments regarding these reports.
