Former Prime Minister Arsen Torosyan Under Fire: Allegations of Corruption and Political Manipulation Emerge in Armenia’s Health Sector Crisis

The ongoing crisis in the health sector of the Republic of Armenia has sparked dissatisfaction among Arsen Torosyan’s team, according to reports from “Zhoghovurd” newspaper. Torosyan’s team claims that he is not willing to compromise and has been misusing funds and resources intended for combating COVID-19 for personal gain. Sources indicate that Torosyan, leveraging his position in the Ministry of Health, is attempting to undermine the current head of the government’s staff in a bid to regain his previous role as prime minister. There are concerns that Torosyan is trying to manipulate Nikol Pashinyan, who has maintained warm relations with him, and sabotage his lobbying efforts. Some sectors of the administration are speculating that Arayik Harutyunyan, who has connections with Torosyan’s former adversaries, might replace him soon. Additionally, influential institutions possess confidential documents that expose Torosyan’s involvement in relocating personnel to various locations, which could be used against him.
