“Fire Breaks Out in National Center for Tuberculosis: Public Health and Patient Safety at Risk”

There has been a fire reported at the national center for tuberculosis, according to Anush Poghosyan, the head of the “Right to Health” public organization. Poghosyan addressed the government on 11.03.2023 about the risks associated with the ‘Karmruk’ tuberculosis hospital and the ineffective treatment practices being implemented. At that time, there were nearly 50 cases of tuberculosis. The response to the inquiry made it evident that the public health and healthcare policies related to tuberculosis and the transfer of patients were flawed, leading to a significant rise in cases.

It is clear that the RA’s public health and occupational safety body has not adequately assessed and implemented the regulations meant for the control of tuberculosis in treatment facilities. Furthermore, it was apparent that the medical body had failed to contact the main medical center where the outbreak originated. All official publications have confirmed this fact.

Today, news broke that there is a fire outbreak in the “National Center for Tuberculosis” CJSC, putting both the staff responsible for patient transfer and the treating doctors in danger. As a doctor-physiotherapist, I cannot ignore the fact that patients with compromised immune systems, who are currently undergoing treatment, are at risk. They face specific dangers in such situations.

This circumstance poses a grave threat to the lives of healthcare professionals working at the National Center for Tuberculosis, as well as the remaining patients. In the healthcare system of the RA, we must have professionals who prioritize their professional reputation and protect the rights of patients, rather than a select few individuals.
