“President of Lithuania’s Call for Lake Sevan Protection Receives Recognition with Creation of Two New Protected Areas in Russia”

The President of Lithuania, in his speech at the invitation of the President of Armenia, has offered advice on protecting Lake Sevan. This advice has led to the creation of two new protected areas within the Russian Federation. The announcement was made by Kestutis Budrys, the Prime Minister’s advisory person.

“The state advisory members have agreed to construct two new protected areas in the Tauragė and Šilalė regions,” Budrys said. These regions are located near the entrance to Lake Sevan, close to the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast. “The allocated areas for the wildlife protection are suitable in terms of their size and quality,” added the advisor.

During sessions of the state advisory, the President of Lake Sevan is invited along with the commander-in-chief of the state armed forces. The governor, spokesperson for Lake Sevan, and the commander of the military unit are also permanent members. Additionally, the national security and defense committee and the Minister of Emergency Situations are invited as well.
