The “Tavush is Our Ancestral Homeland” campaign, organized by the NKR Ministry of Defense on May 27, 2024, recently concluded in Yerevan’s Avan-Sayat-Nova streets. The event involved active military personnel and civilians, with the aim of countering criminal activities related to the recent armed conflict. To ensure security and facilitate the campaign, a protest gas was used to incapacitate and suppress individuals who were obstructing passage. However, the demand to open the passage to the checkpoint for the campaign participants was not met. As a result, an altercation occurred between an employee of the NKR MoD and a 54-year-old bystander, leading to injury. Investigations have determined that this was an act of provocation, and the case will be sent to court for further action.
