“Latvian and Armenian Delegations Discuss Cooperation and Political Changes in Meeting”

The official representative of the Seym of the Republic of Latvia, Dīga Mierīnyte, arrived in Riga on June 26th. She was sent by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonian. The purpose of her visit was to meet with representatives from Armenia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including the cooperation between the RA-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee and the public opinion on the political changes in Armenia. Alen Simonian also proposed holding regular meetings between the friendship groups of the two parliaments and in the framework of the “Northern Europe-Baltic Countries” (NB8) format. He also presented the “Bridge of Peace” initiative of the RA Government, which aims to repatriate Armenian refugees in Azerbaijan, and requested the support of the Latvian side. After the meeting, the Armenian delegation released a joint statement.
