On June 23, at 21:42, the emergency management center of the Lori regional administration received a distress call. It was reported that a search and rescue team consisting of 15 members, including 13 volunteers aged 13-15, had gotten lost in the mountainous areas of Kotayk province. The team was unable to continue their journey due to the rough terrain and poor visibility. They were believed to be located in the “Maymeh” mountain range.

The Rescue Service has stated that the incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Rescue and Firefighting Department of the NSS (National Security Service). Two units of the Rescue Service have been mobilized to assist in the operation.

Rescuers were able to establish contact with the team members who were in the vicinity of the mountain known as the “Cold Spring” on Mount Maymeh. They directed the team members to a rescue vehicle, located approximately 5 km away, which transported them to Vanadzor city.
