“EU Slaps Russia with Tough Sanctions: New Package Targets Aggression Against Ukraine”

The European Union has approved a new package of sanctions against Russia in response to its aggression towards Ukraine. According to the EU Foreign Ministry, these sanctions are aimed at sectors of the Russian economy that support the illegal annexation of Crimea, the export of energy resources, and military aggression. A total of 116 individuals and companies have been targeted, as they are believed to be responsible for actions that undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity and independence.

One significant measure included in the sanctions is a ban on the import of Russian natural gas, specifically from Gazprom. This move aims to disrupt the transit of European gas through pipelines originating in Russia. Although the EU will cease its gas transit from Gazprom, it will continue to purchase gas from the company.

Furthermore, the European Union has imposed restrictions on 61 organizations within Russia’s defense industry, with the intention of supporting Ukraine’s defense efforts in its conflict with Russia. These organizations, located in Turkey, China, and the US, have been implicated in the production of military equipment and technology.

In addition to these measures, the EU has placed limitations on the sale, supply, or transfer of Russian-manufactured industrial goods. This is intended to address concerns surrounding the illegal delivery of such goods from Russia. Should evidence of illegal delivery be found, the restrictions will be applicable.
