“Armenian Prime Minister Initiates Large-Scale Military Exercises to Prevent Disasters and Protect Citizens”

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General-Major Kamо Ciuluyan, carried out large-scale military exercises throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia. The exercises aimed at preventing natural and man-made disasters, mitigating risks to the population and settlements, protecting the environment, and preserving the life and health of the population. To ensure the safety of city residents, areas for monitoring emergencies and conducting search and rescue operations for fire and flood emergencies were identified.

During the exercises, various departments, such as the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the medical personnel of the Ministry of Defense and the National Security Service, actively participated. Unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters, special vehicles, and high-altitude speakers were used for surveillance and warning of the population. A total of 401 objects, including adjacent areas and border areas, were involved in the exercises.

The exercises are still ongoing, with military personnel and unmanned aerial vehicles continuing their work in rescue operations. In order to further improve emergency response, the units of the Rescue Service of the Armed Forces and the Territorial Defense Regiment conducted active operations in closed and open territories from June 22 to June 24. Their operations included monitoring emergency situations, conducting rescue operations, and providing medical services in areas affected by emergencies. A total of 642 positions were established to ensure compliance with emergency regulations.

It should be noted that in 2023, as part of the program to increase the effectiveness of emergency situations management, the Rescue Service of the Armed Forces plans to conduct large-scale exercises throughout the Republic of Armenia. These exercises aim to improve the capabilities of responding to emergencies, implement protection measures, and enhance civil defense. The Rescue Service actively collaborates with local self-governing bodies, such as the Yerevan Municipality Ecopark and the Parakar Civil Defense Division. Additionally, 11,751 positions have been established to ensure compliance with emergency regulations, and unmanned aerial vehicles play a crucial role in reconnaissance, military calculations, and rescue operations.
