American military contractor Northrop Grumman has recently unveiled a series of videos showcasing the development of a top-secret DARPA project involving a large-scale underwater robot known as the Manta Ray, according to Techol reports. The Manta Ray is currently in its prototype stage as an XLUUV unmanned underwater vehicle. The footage reveals that Northrop Grumman has successfully created a printer of the appropriate size, resembling their own submersible vehicle prototype. The developers claim that the Manta Ray will be instrumental in carrying out perilous military missions, ultimately reducing the risk to human lives. External sources indicate that this innovative machine is being designed for the autonomous transportation of heavy cargo, capable of both navigating above water and diving deep into the sea. The submersible aircraft’s movement and maneuverability are facilitated by two quadrilateral fins positioned at the ends of the wings. Additionally, the Manta Ray can rely on “gills” to store energy when necessary.
