Armenia and Germany Discuss Cooperation in Education, Energy, and Cultural Heritage

The spokesperson of the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Zhanan Andreaasyan, recently met with Nilss Aneny, the head of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) delegation in Germany. The meeting focused on various aspects of cooperation between Armenia and Germany, including the implementation of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on “General Education and Teaching about It” and the advancement of vocational education. The participants also discussed the potential for collaboration in the field of research programs and the use of modern techniques to enhance vocational education. The meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation in the construction sector for vocational education and explored the possibilities of collaboration in the fields of energy, climate change, and environmental studies. The German side expressed interest in supporting Armenia’s research efforts in analyzing climate change data and developing strategies to tackle its negative impacts. Discussions also took place regarding student and researcher exchanges in the energy field, with involvement from the Fraunhofer Institute and the Helmholz Association. The potential for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, climate change, and environmental studies was also recognized. The meeting underscored the importance of conducting research on climate change and its effects on Armenia’s natural resources, such as water. A proposal was made for an exchange program involving students in primary schools and young researchers, with the Fraunhofer Institute playing a role. Furthermore, discussions were held with representatives from the Fraunhofer Institute, Piranha Arts, and the WOMEX Worldwide Music Expo regarding the organization of an international music festival in Armenia. These representatives expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation and mentioned the participation of numerous Armenian musicians and musical groups in the WOMEX-23 event. The spokesperson of the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports emphasized the opportunity to promote national art and organize international music festivals in Armenia with the support of the Fraunhofer Institute. The spokesperson highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary research for preserving ancient manuscripts in the Matenadaran Museum and expressed the need to collaborate with the Fraunhofer Institute to create a digital database and develop restoration techniques. Finally, the representative of the Ministry expressed gratitude for the international representatives’ interest in promoting Armenian music and cultural heritage and their readiness to continue discussing further cooperation.
