During the 2023 budget discussion of Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan’s office, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the Agarak-Kajaran highway program. He mentioned that he became more familiar with the project during his recent visit to Syunik. Pashinyan emphasized that this section alone is a large project and caution must be exercised. The construction company’s publicity has been commendable, as they have successfully implemented projects of similar magnitude. Pashinyan acknowledged that it is a military program and expressed hope that the specified deadlines will be met.

In addition to his visit to Syunik, Prime Minister Pashinyan mentioned another inspection related to the highway. He recollected that construction works have been underway since 2021 as part of the interstate road construction program. Pashinyan highlighted that the construction of the highway network has made it possible to introduce tolls on certain sections of the Vardzia-Meghri highway.
