“Head of Armenian Community Suspected of Illegal Real Estate Deals: Anti-Corruption Committee Reveals Shocking Investigation Report”

Representatives of the RA Anti-Corruption Committee presented a report on an ongoing investigation involving real estate transactions in the Ararat province of Armenia. The head of a community, S. B., is suspected of engaging in illegal business activities. The report revealed that D. G., the private owner of a major company in Shahumyan, used his official position to exploit the company’s assets without authorization. A 265,961.82 square meter thermal power plant was constructed without proper permits, infringing on personal property rights. D. G. offered to pay a fine of 438,837,000 AMD to the state budget in exchange for the violation, which was lower than the required amount. The construction of the thermal power plant, owned by D. G.’s company, was completed on August 23, 2021, with a formal certificate issued for its operation. However, crucial construction documents were not submitted to the authorities. The investigation revealed that the technical supervision of the thermal power plant’s construction was finished on August 20, 2021, with a final certificate issued, but the stipulated amount of 439 million AMD was not paid. Consequently, on June 11, 2024, D. G. was fined a total of 439 million AMD for the violations. On June 17, 2024, the court proceedings relating to the criminal case were suspended due to the circumstances surrounding the violations and to prevent the defendant from evading justice.
