Armen Sargsyan Re-elected as President of NAS RA, Outlines Ambitious Development Program for Scientific Advancement

Armen Sargsyan has been re-elected as the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia (NAS RA) during the NAS RA’s General Meeting on June 19. Born in 1986, Sargsyan completed his studies at the State Engineering University of Armenia in 2008. In 2011, he earned a doctoral degree in technical sciences and obtained a master’s degree in information technology in 2015. Before becoming President of the NAS RA in December 2020, Sargsyan held various positions within the institution, including director of the scientific center, network administrator, department head of international cooperation, and head of the Information Technology Department.

Sargsyan has presented a strategic development program for the NAS RA, which outlines the goals and objectives for the years 2024-2028. This program aims to enhance the scientific and educational potential of the academy, foster research implementation in education, and strengthen collaboration with academic institutions and research organizations. It also includes plans to improve the Department of Scientific Programs, increase the role of the Department of Postgraduate Education, focus on information technology research topics, involve students and aspiring researchers in scientific activities, establish partnerships with prominent international scientific centers, and undertake joint programs with renowned research organizations from around the world.
