“Alberto, First Atlantic Storm of 2024, Brings Heavy Rain to Western US Coast: Alert for Mexico and Central America”

In the western region of Mexico, a tropical storm named “Alberto” has formed, marking the first storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season. The storm has brought heavy rain to the western coast of the United States, as reported by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) of the US.

According to meteorologist Mayami, Alberto has been tracked near the city of Tamiko in Mexico, approximately 300 km eastward. It has reached a maximum speed of 65 km/h.

However, Alberto is expected to make landfall in Mexico in five days.

The NHC has warned that the storm is highly powerful, and coastal areas of Mexico, the Gulf of Mexico, and the central region of Texas may experience intense rainfall and strong winds. The NHC also cautions that central regions of Central America may be affected.

The affected areas are currently experiencing abnormal conditions due to continuous heavy rainfall caused by the El Niño phenomenon and transportation issues due to floods. Tragically, more than 10 lives have already been lost in El Salvador.

The NHC predicts the possibility of “significant flooding” due to the heavy rains associated with Alberto, covering a large portion of Texas until Saturday. This is because the eastern regions are particularly active due to the La Niña phenomenon and the movement of the storm waters.
