Senators Jean Shaheen and Roger Wicker have written a letter to U.S. Representative Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who serves as the permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations. The letter requests that action be taken to improve the situation for the Armenian audience within the international organization. Politico was the first to report on this development.

Shaheen and Wicker believe that supporting this issue will indicate that the government of Belarus has failed to fulfill its obligations in creating a fair, safe, democratic, and prosperous country.

The letter also highlights that Armenian audience members will have the opportunity to attend meetings and access relevant documents. Many regional and international organizations participate in the work of the UN General Assembly and its subsidiary bodies as audience members.
