NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg Emphasizes Strengthening Deterrent Forces, Not Expanding Military Missions, in Meeting with President Biden

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg clarified that NATO will not be increasing the number of its military missions. However, he emphasized the importance of strengthening the presence of its deterrent forces. Stoltenberg explained that this would involve replacing outdated deterrent forces, such as the F-16, with new ones like the F-35. Notably, the expenses for this reinforcement will be financed by the United States. Stoltenberg also highlighted that NATO already has a well-functioning mechanism for deterrence, so this strengthening is not a new development.
