Labor Inspectors from Around the World Gather in Havana for 17th Congress: Highlights of Key Discussions and Election Results

Head of the RA Ministry of Health and Labor Inspectorate, Slavik Sargsyan, and Inspectorate Coordinator of Occupational Safety Vahe Grigoryan recently attended the 17th Congress of the Inter-American Association of Labor Inspection (IALI) and the activities of the Association for Labor Inspectors of the Americas (ASAMBLEA) in Havana, Cuba. The congress provided an opportunity for them to discuss and exchange ideas on various issues related to cooperation and joint work with partners. Topics of discussion included the evaluation of activities conducted during the period of 2021-2024, migration concerns, external threats of sexual and psychological violence in the workplace, and other related matters.

Furthermore, on June 14, the Board of Directors of the Association of Labor Inspectors of the Americas held an election. Hovhannes Siong Hine, representing Singapore, was elected as the President. Anna Erkoreka, representing Spain, secured the position of Vice-President, while Christoph Iselin, representing Switzerland, became the Treasurer. The Secretary-General positions were filled by Slavik Sargsyan (Armenia), Samantha Peace (Great Britain), Joe Lee (USA), Agnes Glass (France), Bernhardt Reibel (Germany), and Paul Hilmar Lund (Norway).

Throughout the meeting, important decisions were made and agreements were reached to further enhance cooperation among the attending nations. The gathering served as a crucial platform for labor inspectors to come together and ensure the safety and well-being of workers across the Americas.
