The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” has reported that Karen Sargsyan, the governor of Gegharkunik province, recently held a meeting with representatives from various sectors in the province. The discussions centered around the ongoing work related to the demarcation and delimitation of Gegharkunik province. It is worth noting that as of May 12, 2021, certain areas of Gegharkunik province have been occupied by the Azerbaijani armed forces. They have deployed a large number of military and military-technical equipment, occupying territories in both Syunik province and the villages of Upper Shorzha and Kut in Gegharkunik province.

During the meeting, Karen Sargsyan expressed his assurance that the currently occupied territories will eventually be returned and that Armenia’s own territories will be liberated. The governor believes that Azerbaijan will leave without any conditions. However, despite his optimism, the situation remains challenging as Azerbaijan continues to attempt to change the internationally recognized borders of Armenia. “Zhoghovurd” newspaper tried to obtain information from the governor, who is known for always engaging with the residents, but he did not recall discussing this particular topic.

According to reports, Karen Sargsyan’s confidence and belief that everything will be fine without any problems stems from the fact that Aliyev himself undermines the peace process on a daily basis.
