Armenian Minister of Justice Condemns Cruelty of Recent Attacks on Journalists: “No Such Elements in Cruelty Went Beyond Defined Limits,” Says Hokik Aghazaryan

When I witnessed the cadres, I was truly stunned by the unimaginable cruelty that unfolded before me. Hokik Aghazaryan, the Minister of Justice in Armenia, shared his thoughts on these horrific events in an interview with NEWS.am. According to Aghazaryan, on June 12, terrorists planted explosives in the Baghramyan district with the intent to harm journalists. Aghazaryan commends the professionalism of those who fulfilled their duty by preventing any violence. He believes that the actions carried out did not surpass the boundaries set by the law, suggesting that there was no excessive cruelty involved.

When questioned about whether the authorities will be able to hold those responsible accountable for their actions before the 2026 elections, Aghazaryan confidently states that there will be no safe haven for these criminals. He believes that in a matter of 2-3 months, the public will pass judgment on their leadership based on their ability to bring justice. Aghazaryan argues that it’s crucial to fulfill these expectations in order to avoid punishment and maintain the support of the people.

One positive aspect of this entire ordeal, as I have always emphasized, is the fact that the citizens of the Republic of Armenia did not endorse, agree with, or participate in these events. The majority of the individuals gathered in Yerevan are neither citizens of Armenia nor solely representatives of Artsakh; many are immigrants from Russia. Their personal freedoms are not at risk, and it is baffling why they have chosen to involve themselves in actions and activities without fully understanding the reasons behind their own presence in Russia for the past 30 years. Such behavior is simply unacceptable and contradictory.
