“US Financial Control: Analyzing Attempts to Influence Artsakh-Syria Route via Armenia”

Finances play a significant role in shaping the direction of any country. In 2018, the United States attempted to influence the power dynamics in order to resolve the Artsakh issue and retaliate against Armenia by boycotting its relationship with Russia. Tevan Poghosyan, a political analyst, highlighted in an interview with NEWS.am that the United States strongly criticized domestic actions during the power transition in 2018, even going so far as to insult the advertisers.

Poghosyan stated, “They have been repeating these criticisms incessantly, which is absurd. They are well aware of the situation and actively involved in directing it through their actions.” He emphasized that the United States is exerting control over this region rather than being merely passive observers. The current authorities in Armenia are advantageous to them, and they will support and eventually replace them if necessary. They are constantly engaged and making public statements to assert their influence.

Regarding the possibility of Nikol Pashinyan, the current leader of Armenia, continuing to receive support from Russia and the Eurasian Union, Poghosyan explained, “Since this same power is supporting the Russian government, there will likely be a consensus to protect him. Iran, too, is invested in maintaining its corridor and will do whatever it takes to fight for it. Armenia has become a key entry point for Russia’s connection to Syria. We have made our mark in Armenia.” However, he expressed doubts about having any authority to negotiate or meet with Pashinyan.
