“Prime Minister Pashinyan Considers Toll Roads as Solution to Traffic Congestion in Armenia”

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, recently announced plans to implement toll roads in the country, pending societal approval. During a visit to Syunik, Pashinyan expressed his belief that the heavy traffic on the construction of the North-South Highway necessitates diverting local traffic away from the highway. He argued that the highway would likely see significant international traffic, and therefore implementing toll roads would allow for the accommodation of international traffic while diverting local traffic. Pashinyan also mentioned that the “Road to Dignity” project, once launched, would further increase flows of freight transportation.
