Iran and Russia Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Transport Sector, Eye Increased Transit Volumes
Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami, recently met with Igor Levitin, aide to the Russian President, and Leonid Slutsky, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, in order to discuss bilateral cooperation in the field of international transport corridors and transportation agreements. The focus of the meeting was on the implementation process of the Resht-Astar railway project, which spans 164 kilometers. The parties emphasized the importance of developing transit capacities and increasing transit volumes through Iran’s territory. Additionally, they discussed the need for joint efforts to enhance transit capabilities and increase transshipment operations between Iran and Russia.
